The Prisma MCP server comes in two parts from Prisma. The local server runs Prisma migrations over stdio, and the remote server at mcp.prisma.io/mcp manages Prisma Postgres databases over HTTP. Both sign in through a Prisma Console login. Prisma’s docs show setup for Claude Code, Cursor and Copilot in VS Code, with a local and a remote entry for each.

The local one (npx prisma mcp) wraps CLI workflows such as migrate status, migrate dev, migrate reset, Console login, database creation and Prisma Studio. The remote one at mcp.prisma.io/mcp manages Prisma Postgres databases, connection strings and backups, and it can run SQL and introspect schemas. The prisma/mcp repository is documentation and has no license file.
