Neon’s official MCP server for managing Neon Postgres from a coding agent.

The Neon MCP server is Neon’s official, MIT-licensed server that lets agents manage Neon Postgres projects and branches, run SQL and handle schema migrations. It is a hosted remote HTTP server at mcp.neon.tech/mcp that signs in with OAuth or an API key. The docs show setup for Claude Code, Cursor and Copilot in VS Code through npx neon@latest init, and the URL can also be added to any client.

Tool categories cover projects, branches, compute endpoints, SQL querying, schema changes through temporary-branch migrations, Neon Auth, the Data API and docs. URL parameters can make it read-only, scope it to one project, or limit the categories. Neon recommends it for development only, not production.
