The Hugging Face MCP server connects agents to the Hugging Face Hub to search models, datasets, papers and Spaces and to call Gradio apps. Hugging Face hosts it over remote HTTP at huggingface.co/mcp, with sign-in through OAuth (the ?login URL) or a bearer HF token. The open-source code is MIT-licensed and can be self-hosted. The steps below cover Claude Code, Gemini CLI, Cursor and Copilot in VS Code.
