Exa MCP Server is Exa’s hosted endpoint at mcp.exa.ai/mcp for web search and page fetching.

The Exa MCP server gives agents Exa web search and clean page fetching, plus optional Exa Agent research runs. Exa maintains it under the MIT license and serves it over remote HTTP. It works anonymously with rate limits, while OAuth or an API key unlocks higher limits and the Agent tool. The install steps below cover Claude Code, through the official plugin, and Codex.

By default it exposes web_search_exa and web_fetch_exa, which returns pages as markdown. Through a tools URL parameter you can add web_search_advanced_exa, with domain and date filters, and agent_run for multi-step Exa Agent research.
